In 2021, in spite of the COVID-19 situation still being unpredictable, the human race was ready to return to normal social life. As more and more global events started to return to their original offline formats, they had to adopt new procedures to ensure safety, social distancing, and follow current restrictions. South Summit 2021 which took place on the 5-7th of October at La Nave, Madrid was one such event. It is one of the largest technical events in Europe organized every year by IE University with the help of the Spanish Secretary of State for Digitalization and AI, that brings together investors, startups, and entrepreneurs.

This event provides a platform for face-to-face communication for people, which is an excellent opportunity for efficient networking. The event was attended by over 22,000 guests and was also graced by His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain and prime minister Pedro Sánchez who delivered speeches during the inauguration and closing ceremonies. Therefore, it was very important for the South Summit to provide a clean, safe and hygienic environment so that people could attend the event without the fear of getting infected. This was when City Robotics came to the rescue and our product Robo-UV Pro entered the stage.

City Robotics was chosen as the official disinfection partner for South Summit 2021. The theme for the event was all about shaping the future- combining the best of digital and physical worlds to promote sustainability. And selecting us as a partner was therefore the right choice. We at City Robotics believe that robots should be used to help people and not replace them. Moreover, we ensure that our product provides sustainable services as it does not use any chemical disinfectants. Our team gladly provided one of our products, the Robo-UV Pro. Our robot is an autonomous disinfection machine that manages to kill 99,999% of pathogens efficiently using UV radiation. The Robo-UV Pro was used to disinfect the whole event venue and particularly high contact areas every day so that the event could proceed smoothly.

City Robotics’s original plan was to primarily target healthcare institutions, but as our previous piloting sessions for this robot showed great results, we decided to expand our services to other industries. So, South Summit 2021 was a golden opportunity to present ourselves in a new area - event management. We partnered with the summit to disinfect their large event site before and after the event and keep the promise of a safe space.

So, when such a well-known event provides a platform for a rather fresh and enthusiastic company - the partnership brings amazing results in providing a safe space, which is a crucial criterion these days. Such collaborations are highly beneficial for both parties.
